" The only concern being that ML2 is a feedback amp and Mel not.
And it is exactly why Lamm is able to drive more or less successfully those sub 90dB loads but Melquiades is not. The SETs with no-feedback are VERY sensit...

Not at all! How would you start anyway? By a random walk?Random tube at a random point?Charts is what I usually start with. I know nobody who measuredhmself GU81M and can provide a reliable data. If you know, please put me in touch. Paralleled 6c33c-...

Thanks, Paul.
My Googleised Chinese allowed me to understand that they use some kind of forced cooling but there was not mentioning of it. Upon further inspection I come across to this image:
So, the amp has two fans aside to ...
You are correct, though I believe the subwoofer covers only below 40 hz.
So???
This is coming from the same person who has built a 6-channel DSET? Anyway, it was more a thought about optimizing the o...

I made some power measurement of the Super Milq, to my surprise it is not so much hungry east as I expected. During the startup, what the B+ begins to charge the large capacitors the amp sucks 8,6A. When the amps is fully charge, heated and in it cru...

Ok, I will try to lower the primary impedance like you suggested, but it will be on the new 6C33C mono block amplifier that I am building. The custom made chassis will be finished by next week and I have the better components waiting to get installle...

Here's an obliquely-related related anecdote: It has been 2 years since I put a pair of "quasi-boutique" 6C33Cs in the boost position in my ML2s. I know, I "should" change them to regulation, just to be safe; but now I have become morbidly interest...
|
Indeed it took me a very long time to decide upon regulate or not. I ended up with regulation option to save some chassis space and weight, otherwise I would need at least 10 kilos more and 30% bigger space that would make the wh...

Erno Borbely is well-know man from Germany whose company develop and sell kits for DIY audio amateurs. In mid 90s Borbely made an attempt toward the 6C33C. I have to admit that there are a many moments in Borbely 6C33C amp design that I do not like. ...

Thank you for the comment on this amp, this is my first time of using the 6C33C tube, I decided to build this amp after reading about the Melquiades, this amp is just a quick experiment on the 6C33C sound, since I have...

HiI'm now at a stage of building the chassis for full range Milq.It will be a two chassis, one power supply and one signal, very similar to Romys super Milq layout. The two will be connected by two separate cables AC and DC.A few questions please1.How a...

KOT, with the ML2s I found very little difference in the sound of various 6C33Cs, but the old Svetlanas certainly "held to spec" better (and longer..). I find the 6C33C to be more "direct" sounding than 845 or 211, but this in the context of a 3-sta...
Got today a party of the 6C18C from 1960s, an interesting tube. The plate looks like 1/4 times larger and has no bridge between the halves. The 6C18C has even less plate impedance than 6C33C and it appears that it futures i...

I probably overwhelmed the readers of my site with the different aspect of the 6C33C but it is what it is. This site is my diary and reflects what is going on with me in audio. Here it comes… now I am frustrated to understand the 6C33C.
The next mys...
I am about 3 weeks away from supplying 3 Kz ohm to 4,8 & 16 ohm SE outputs for 300b or 2A3 tubes to George Wright, of Wright Sound, and Gary Pimm of Pimm CCS fame (constant current controls to buffer stages from each other ...

Scott, my apologize, but issue of low-power does not have any relationship to the problems, you have described. The problems could be located in the following areas:- high output impedance of the last cascade, and amplifier in g...
As usual, they leave out the VacuTrace, by far the best modern day tube tester.
Interesting, Jim.
I was not in the market for tube tester but I looking at your tracer I fugue out that I might sell a few my chea...

Romy, that 6C33c is also only running one triode...you also have the option to wire up the other filament to increase power if required....

Hm, a German company Audio Valve clams that this new Assistant 100 amps has
“110 w sinus wave - 1khz / 1% dist. / 8 ohm load, per channel”

That is bold statement even if you drive...

Yes, it would be very interesting to hear the difference between a 6C33C amp with and without tube regulation, but also they are too many thing to try too, ... the possibility is endless here.My recent experience with two different ...

It is impossible to make two amp with the same quality with such big difference in output tubes , the transformer design are vastly different, a 10Kohm transformer would never have a good bandwidth as a 600ohm transformer. I just have to experime...
However, you need to find out how much power and how much gain you need for you subs and your room. Borrow for someone any 6C33C and measure how far the 6C33C will be from class A2 at a level of max tolerable bass in your r...

Yes, Chris, thanks.
I understand how it works, the same Newton Bias only on the other side of the driver’s tube. Dima have proposed something similar in past and last nigh we discussed with him what you suggested. He was planning to post his commen...
Hi romy, thanks for info. I am going to stick with the 2-stage plan then as it will not be DSET but full range and my mid-bass is somewhat barbaric at this point. I have found someone to build for me, though we ha...

I do not really believe in the ultimate ability of SET amplifiers to drive loudspeakers, at least any loudspeakers. I am not talking about the impedance fluctuations or the inappropriately low impedance dives. Those are well know issues. The people w...

Paul, what are you talking about? I use from my 6C33C no more then 1-2W. The 6C33C at LF might give 20 W but it is load over to 600R. I load it to near 2500R (11.83:1 transformer with 15R driver) – you figure out your how much power and gain I b...
